The Chess Heights Oyo Monthly chess tournament was held June 1 with 14 players – including three girls – the highest number of participants than any other month this year.

Some of the players were from the National Schools Team Chess Championship.

Badru Ariyo won the best U-14 title, Fredrick Atigogo won the best female title, with Stephen-Adesina Oluwajisola the youngest player ever to play in the tournament at eight years old.

Nwakamma Shiloh, popularly known as ‘King Shiloh’, emerged the overall winner, after the titled player and won all six of his games.
